Looking For Grandmother's Old-Fashioned Gingerbread?

If you're reading this page it's probably because you are trying to find the recipe for Grandmother's Old-Fashioned Gingerbread recipe. I know it can be frustrating to click on a link only to find out that the link is broken and takes you nowhere. So, I'll explain here why that is and how you can still find the recipe if you want it.

You see, when I originally posted this recipe several years ago it didn't occur to me that just because it was my grandmother's recipe handwritten on a recipe card that didn't necessarily mean that she created the recipe herself. She could easily have copied it from any cookbook or magazine. So when I was going through some of my older recipe to make sure that I had properly given credit to the original source of the recipe I realized that I didn't really know where the original recipe for this gingerbread cake had come from. So I decided to unpublish the recipe while I was trying to figure that out. And if you're reading this page it means that I still haven't found it out yet. And as of the time that I am writing this I can't even find my grandmother's recipe card anymore, so that makes it even harder to figure out.

I know that there are some people who saved the recipe on Pinterest or saved the link in some other way and who might try to find that recipe to make it again and end up with the dreaded 404 "page not found" error message. So, if this is you and you would like to get the recipe you can reach me at my contact page and I'll be glad to email you the recipe. I don't feel that I can publish it on my site without being able to give proper attribution to the original source, but I can pass it along to you personally like friends exchanging recipes.

I also have this other old-fashioned gingerbread recipe on my site that you might enjoy trying, too: Old-Fashioned Sour Cream Gingerbread Cake Recipe from 1852

Piece of sour cream gingerbread cake dusted with powdered sugar on a red china plate on a table with a pan of gingerbread in the background along with an antique cookbook, some cloves and spoons and winter greenery, berries, and pinecones.
