Essential oils are an amazing addition to a healthy lifestyle, and, because they're all-natural and also very powerful, they're the perfect replacement for the toxic chemicals you often find in products like household cleaners, air fresheners, perfumes, beauty products, etc.
But before we talk more about why essential oils are so great, let's talk first about what they actually are!
Essential oils are the oil of the plant from which they were extracted, so they’re basically like concentrated herbs. Essential oils help to protect and maintain the plant, and we can use them to help to support the health and wellness of our own bodies.
There are many different kinds of oils out there, and they all have different properties and uses. From well-known plants like lavender and thyme to unusual and exotic ones like petitgrain and spikenard, there’s a huge range to choose from – and they each provide all sorts of different benefits and uses.
There are lots of different ways that you can use essential oils, and these are just a few of my favorite ways to use them:
Essential oils like lavender, chamomile, and frankincense have a calming and relaxing effect, and they're great for unwinding in the evenings before bed. And citrus oils, like lemon and orange, have a refreshing and energizing aroma that can brighten your mood and help you feel more alert and focused.
Rather than using store bought air fresheners or scented candles that have synthetic fragrances (along with a whole bunch of other chemicals!), essential oils are a great way to freshen the air in your home. You can use essential oils in a diffuser or you can make your own DIY room sprays.
Essential oils are perfect for adding to your DIY beauty and cleaning recipes because they're a way to add a natural fragrance as well as adding the therapeutic properties of the oils to your recipe. You can add essential oils to homemade perfumes, lotions, cleaning sprays, etc.
In my opinion, no. There are a lot of different brands out there to choose from, but since essential oils are so highly-concentrated and so strong, and since part of the reason for using them is to avoid toxins, it's really important to make sure that the essential oils you use are ones that are good quality oils.
Because of these reasons, the brand that I feel comfortable using and that I recommend is Young Living.
One of the most important things I’ve learned in my journey toward healthy living is that it’s not just what something is – it’s where it comes from, how it’s grown, and how it’s processed. Whether it’s blueberries fresh from the farm, or cows on green pasture, or a soft organic cotton t-shirt, I know that the source matters.
Young Living is a company that I trust because they truly care about quality. To ensure the purity of their oils, the team at Young Living sets the highest standards for planting, harvesting, and distilling on their farms.
The Young Living "Seed to Seal" guarantee means that, unlike most essential oils companies, they're involved with every step of the process from the time the seeds are planted in the ground to the time when the essential oils are sealed in their bottles.
Young Living is very open and transparent about how they grow and process the plants they use for their essential oils.
You can actually go and visit their farms and see for yourself how the essential oils are made. The lavender field in the picture above is from the Young Living farm in Utah, and you can stand in that same field and see how the lavender is grown.
Visiting a Young Living farm isn't something that I've had the opportunity to do yet, but I have friends who have visited there, and I'm very impressed with the fact that the company is so open to letting visitors come and see their farm. I don't know of very many companies that do that.
When you get essential oils from Young Living, you're not just buying a product. You're also becoming part of a big community of like-minded people.
As a Young Living customer, you automatically become a member of a big family that will give you all the support and advice you need! It’s a great feeling to know you have the help and reassurance of a generous and caring community of people.
I’ve been using essential oils for quite a while now, but I still really appreciate being able to reach out to our close-knit community when I need their advice or expertise.

There are two ways to get started with Young Living Essential Oils:
Buying retail can be a good option if you have just one or two oils that you want to try. You don't get the discounts that wholesale customers get, but it can be a good way to get started with essential oils if you're not quite ready to buy a starter kit yet.
If you're ready to buy essential oils at retail now, you can click the link below and select "retail customer."
When you become a wholesale customer, you get a starter kit that gives you everything you need to get started using essential oils, plus you get a 24% discount on everything you buy for as long as your an active member. There are a couple of different starter kit options to choose from, but the best value (and the one that gives you the most stuff) is the premium starter kit.
The new Young Living Premium Starter Kit contains your everyday staples – all the oils and equipment you’ll want to have on hand for a variety of situations. The premium starter kit is the best introduction to essential oils because it gives you 11 of Young Livings most popular essential oils and oil blends plus you get a diffuser, tons of samples, and a guide to help you use everything that comes in the kit.
If you bought everything in this starter kit individually, the total retail cost would be $300, but if you buy the kit as a wholesale member, you pay just $160 - that's almost 50% off the regular price!
